Leeds Lieder works regularly with Leeds-based Pyramid of Arts.
Adults with severe and profound learning difficulties take part in workshops designed to engage the senses of sight, smell, taste and touch using songs with emotional content and carefully selected stimuli. Philip Smith and Jonathan Fisher a singer and pianist and Julia Piggott, Creative Director of Pyramid of Arts, completes the creative team.
This year’s collaboration is a six session project involving 12 people with complex learning disabilities and their care workers. The project links with Pyramids ‘Arts At Home’ training for care workers, potentially increasing the reach to up to a 100 people with profound disabilities in their homes. At the end of the project there will be an informal concert attended by all the participants and invited guests, including members of the Friends of Leeds Lieder.
