Patrick Terry countertenor

Born and raised in Janesville, Wisconsin, Patrick earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2014 where he studied with Adriana Zabala. He was placed second in the 2015 Joan Chissell Schumann Lieder Competition, won the 2014 Maureen Lehane Vocal Award, was awarded the Loveday Song Prize in the 2017 Kathleen Ferrier Competition, and was the winner of the 2017 Richard Lewis/Jean Shanks Award.

Patrick has been seen touring England with the Merry Opera Company’s staged production of Handel’s Messiah and as soloist with the RAM/Kohn Foundation Bach Cantata series and the English Baroque Choir. His operatic engagements include singing Oberon in Chicago Summer Opera’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ottone in L’incoronazione di Poppea and Ruggiero in Alcina with the Royal Academy Opera, covering Guildenstern in Glyndebourne Festival Opera’s commission Hamlet (Dean), and he was a Studio Artist in the Chautauqua Opera Company’s 2016 season where he gave the première of Jeremy Gill’s Invisible City with the composer. He can be seen this season touring with Melos Sinfonia as The Boy/Angel 1 in Written on Skin, singing The Refugee in Royal Academy Opera’s 2018 production of Flight and performing the title role in Teseo in the 2018 London Handel Festival. In autumn 2016, he began the Royal Academy Opera course where he studies with Michael Chance and Lawrence Zazzo. Patrick is supported generously by the Josephine Baker Trust, the John J Adam’s Scholarship and the Help Musicians U.K. Sybil Tutton Award.

Patrick will join the Jette-Parker Young Artist Programme at the Royal Opera House in Autumn 2018.

 

Marina de Lucas Garcia piano

Pianist Marina de Lucas began her solo career when she was 11 years old with the Camerata Amadeus Orchestra. She obtained a Master’s degree in Piano Performance at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music, where she was awarded with the Suma Cum Laude.

De Lucas has won several prizes in competitions such as Piano Hazen, Nacional Ciutat de Lliria, International Competition Antón García Abril, Clara Cullel in Costa Rica, International Competition of Piano Maria Herrero, International Competition of Paterna .

She was a Repetiteur Fellow in the Opera department at the Royal Academy of Music in 2016/17.

Noteworthy, some of her most recent recitals have been in the Cortot Hall in Paris, the Teatro de la Maestranza in Sevilla, the Jesús María Sanrromá Hall in Puerto Rico and in the XXVI Contemporary Music Festival in La Habana, Cuba. One of her forthcoming recitals will be in the Duke’s Hall with countertenor Patrick Terry, after winning the Richard Lewis Competition.

Currently she is Nuccia Focile’s accompanist at the Royal Academy of Music and the Assistant Repetiteur at the Morley Opera School, thanks to the generous support of the Nicholas John Trust.
