Debussy among the Poets

Barbara Kelly is Director of Research at the Royal Northern College of Music. She is a leading expert on early twentieth-century French music and has published widely on Debussy, Ravel and Les Six. She is interested in placing music in the cultural, aesthetic and social context of its time. She has recently organised a major international festival and conference at the Royal Northern College of Music and the University of Glasgow with David Code to mark the centenary of Debussy’s death. She will discuss songs to be performed by the Kathleen Ferrier Award winners in today’s Lunchtime Recital.
