BBC Music Magazine Cover Disc April 2018: Leeds Lieder’s first CD features Kate Royal, Ruby Hughes, Nicky Spence, Ashley Riches and Joseph Middleton on the front of this iconic magazine.

BBC Music Magazine celebrates Claude Debussy in this issue, to mark the centenary of his death. Stephen Walsh uncovers the magic of the legendary French composer, exploring how Debussy became popular while simultaneously radically reinventing classical music. Roger Nichols focuses on the composer’s reception in England; you can hear Roger at our Study Event – ‘Debussy among the Poets’ – on Friday 20th April 11.00am-12.00pm, where he will give a fascinating insight into Debussy’s music and discuss songs to be performed by the Kathleen Ferrier Award winners Julien van Mellaerts and Gamal Khamis in our Festival lunchtime recital on 20th April  at 1.00pm in The Venue, Leeds College of Music. On the same evening, fresh from her triumph at Cardiff Singer of the World, Louise Alder joins Royal Philharmonic Society Award winner Joseph Middleton in Debussy’s Ariettes oubliées.
