Jeeyoung Lim

Basse-baritone Jeeyoung Lim was born in Seoul, South Korea, and graduated from the Korea National University of Arts where he studied under the tutelage of Prof. Hans Choi, Hyuk Lee, and So Young Lee. He is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” under the tutelage of Prof. Scot Weir and Prof. Wolfram Rieger. He has appeared in Operas such as “Don Giovanni”, “Le nozze di Figaro” by W.A.Mozart, “La Bohème” by G. Puccini, also Oratorios such as “Elijah” by F.Mendelssohn, “Die Schöpfung” by J.Haydn, and “Ein deutsches Requiem” by J.Brahms.

In the last year he has showcased his talent in international competitions by being a finalist at the 30th Concours international de chante Marmande, and winning the “Prize for Most Promising Future Talent” at the “Das Lied” competition in Heidelberg together with Elenora Pertz, his duo partner. He is currently a scholarship recipient of the Yehudi Munuhin Live Music Now Berlin e.V..

Elenora Pertz

The Italian-American pianist Elenora Pertz was born in Cleveland, Ohio (USA). At 6 years old she received her first piano lessons, studied classical ballet and gained stage experience performing in musicals. In addition to many achievements as a solo pianist, Elenora started working with singers at an early age: she accompanied her church choir since the age of 9, and played her high school’s musical productions.

In 2015 she graduated as Valedictorian of the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Tennessee, USA) with a double major in Piano Performance and European Studies. From 2015-17 she studied Vocal Accompanying at the Music and Art Private University of Vienna (Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien) under Dr. Carolyn Hague and KS Birgid Steinberger. She studies currently at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin in the Lied Accompanying class of Prof. Wolfram Rieger. Other crucial mentors and teachers include Prof. Susan Mannoff, Prof. Helmut Deutsch, Thomas Lausmann and Jonathan Ware.

She has given recitals throughout America, Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece, England and Belgium. She was a participant of the Franz Schubert Institute in Baden bei Wien, the Schubertiade Masterclass in Schwarzenberg, and the Hugo Wolf Akademie in Stuttgart where she worked with artists such as Roger Vignoles, Robert Holl, Julius Drake, Graham Johnson, Elly Ameling and Thomas Quasthoff. In her young career she has already worked and performed with reputable artists such as KS Angelika Kirschschlager, KS Birgid Steinberger and KS Juan Diego Flòrez.

Currently she is the accompanist for the opera class of KS Prof. Júlia Várady at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler. She is a Britten Pears Young Artist, where she studied with Anne Sofie von Otter, and a Stipendiatin of Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now. In July 2018 she gave a Liedmatinée at KS Brigitte Fassbaendar’s Eppan Lied Sommer in Bolzano, Italy. In February 2019 she competes with Jeeyoung Lim in Thomas Quasthoff’s “Das Lied” Competition, and in May of 2019 she was invited to participate in the new LIED Basel festival in Switzerland.
