Schubert and Beethoven, the birth of the Lied Cycle and a new voice in Romanticism
with Dr Katy Hamilton
Tickets: £10, £8 (conc) FREE (U26/students)
This weekend we have heard Beethoven’s seminal cycle, An die ferne Geliebte and Schubert’s Einsamkeit. Dr Katy Hamilton, a regular researcher and presenter for Wigmore Hall, the Southbank Centre and Salzburg Festival leads our Young Artists through the birth of the piano accompanied song.
‘Katy was a huge hit all round! Wearing her erudition very lightly, she proved a constant source of positive energy, deftly steering conversations and drawing the best from fellow guests. I only hope we can still afford her next year…’
