A performance by Pyramid of Arts High Rise groups with baritone Philip Smith and pianist Jonathan Fisher
Pyramid of Arts’ High Rise Programme provides creative opportunities for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities or communication needs resulting from sensory difficulties and autism.
The High Rise Music groups have worked with baritone Philip Smith and pianist Jonathan Fisher to produce their own musical, inspired by Lieder. ‘Step into Spring’ riffs on the seasonal theme from the song, ‘It Was a Lover and His Lass’ (from Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’).
The musical features the sounds of spring, with dancing animals and singing trees, in a joyous retort to the musical fancy of Shakespeare’s love tale. In between Philip and Johnathan’s visits the group have worked on their own responses to the songs through music, action and creating props and costumes. Come and join us at Yorkshire Dance to enjoy the results!
