Leeds Lieder works regularly with Leeds-based Pyramid of Arts.

Adults with severe and profound learning difficulties take part in workshops designed to engage the senses of sight, smell, taste and touch using songs with emotional content and carefully selected stimuli.

This year’s collaboration is a project involving Pyramid’s ‘Legends’ group. The Legends are the original, founding Pyramid of Arts group. It is a group of older people, who make and create mainly visual arts, in 2D and 3D. The emphasis is on enjoying and creating art in a relaxed, gently paced environment.

Leeds Lieder animateurs Phillip Smith (baritone) and Jonathan Fisher (piano) have worked with the group on music by Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann, Schubert and Brahms, and participants have responded by writing their own Lied and creating artwork.

The Legends group will perform and present their work at the start of Composers & Poets Forum session 2 at 2pm on Saturday 27th April in the Recital Room at Leeds College of Music, as part of the Leeds Lieder Festival 2019.
