The Leeds Lieder Festival has received support from Arts Council England for its 2024 edition.

A heartening message from Leeds Lieder Director, Joseph Middleton, who celebrates his tenth anniversary with the Festival this year:

“Following last year’s “world-class” Festival (The Guardian) and the much-debated news of our funding crisis, I am thrilled to announce that we have been successful in receiving generous support from Arts Council England for our 2024 Festival. It has recognised that what we are doing for communities, audiences and artists in the north is vital, life-enhancing work. I am also so very heartened that so many individuals have sought to invest in Leeds Lieder so that we can continue to bring “musical riches to Yorkshire through star performers, engaging new commissions and bold educational projects.” (The Times). The work we do touches the lives of countless children, young people, emerging artists, composers and audiences from a diverse demographic. Thanks to those that underpin our work, be it individuals through our Friends Scheme, trusts and foundations or extremely generous philanthropists pledging gifts over a number of years, we can plan ahead with confidence. Do join us as we throw the doors open on the 20th Anniversary Festival, our biggest, boldest and most inclusive week of joyous music-making yet programmed.”
