Joseph Middleton piano
Gustav Mahler Des Knaben Wunderhorn
In association with the Kathleen Ferrier Awards
The Kathleen Ferrier Awards have become a benchmark for identifying new talent with an impressive roster of past winners: Bryn Terfel, Joan Rodgers, Elizabeth Watts and Kate Royal all take their place in this roll-call. Now two new names appear on this list and we are delighted to welcome them to Leeds. Both already enthusiastic recitalists, Gemma and James join Leeds Lieder Director Joseph Middleton to round off our Mahler series with a complete performance of Des Knaben Wunderhorn, a collection of German folk poems and songs that tackle tales of soldiers, spirits and lovers.
This recital will be preceded by a pre-concert talk, by David Hoult beginning at 6.30pm in Lecture Theatre 1.
