Tickets: £25; £23 Unwaged/Disabled; £5 Under 26s/Full-time Students
Programme to include Wolf’s Mignon Lieder, Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder, Debussy’s Chansons de Bilitis and songs by Sibelius, Nystroem and Grieg.
Heady Romanticism runs through this erotically charged programme of German, French and Scandinavian song, perfectly suited to the Grammy Award-winning mezzo soprano of Katarina Karnéus. Having shot to fame following her triumphant win at Cardiff Singer of the World in 1995, Katarina Karnéus is a regular fixture in the great opera houses of the world. Equally acclaimed as a song singer, and particularly noted as a leading exponent of Scandinavian repertoire she has recorded much-lauded recitals for EMI and Hyperion Records. Fresh from concerts with Joseph Middleton in recent seasons at London’s Wigmore Hall and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw the duo bring their natural warmth and spontaneity to some of the finest songs in the repertoire.
