Tenor Nicky Spence, a firm favourite with Leeds Lieder audiences since he bounded onto the platform at the first Festival masterclass in 2005, is now at the top of his profession, having won international acclaim for his performances on the recital platform and on the opera stage. In this welcome return to Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall, he performs a Transatlantic programme of songs by Britten, Tippett, Charles Tomlinson Griffes and Margaret Bonds, one of the first Black composers and performers to gain recognition in the United States.
