“… a dreamy song recital and a flawless, multi-faceted performance” – was how the Salzburger Nachrichten described Mauro Peter’s performance at the 2019 Salzburg Festival. Rarely heard in the UK, it is a real thrill to open the Leeds Lieder 2021-22 season with an all Schumann recital given by the outstanding Swiss tenor, widely acknowledged as one of the brightest stars on the Lied stage. A Sony Classical Artist, Mauro has also performed leading roles at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, the Bavarian State Opera, the Opéra de Lyon, the Opéra national de Paris, the Royal Opera House in London, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Theater an der Wien, the Zürich Opera House and the Salzburg Festival. Devoted to the Lied repertoire, Mauro is a regular guest at Vienna’s Musikverein, at the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, at Cologne’s Philharmonie, Munich’s Prinzregententheater, Vienna’s Konzerthaus, at the Verbier Festival, Wigmore Hall in London and the Salzburg Festival. For this recital he pairs the heartbreak and dreamworld of Dichterliebe with the quintessential Romanticism of Eichendorff’s Liederkreis.
Robert Schumann Dichterliebe

“Mauro Peter is a real discovery, a classic Mozartian tenor with warmth and style.”
